• NEW FEDERAL PROGRAM — ACTIVE FEB 18, 2026
Canada's Electric Vehicle Affordability Program (EVAP) delivers a federal rebate directly off your purchase or lease price — no rebate cheques, applied right here at the dealership.
Until March 30, 2026: The permanent EVAP portal launches April 1, 2026. Dealerships use a temporary process in the interim — eligible transactions from February 16, 2026 onwards qualify. See the full process below →
The Process
The rebate comes off your price at the dealership. Here’s what to expect from start to finish.
01
Browse eligible vehicles on the EVAP Vehicle List. Any new EV with a final transaction value under $50,000 may qualify — even models not on the published list.
02
Complete the EVAP Consumer Consent Form electronically at our dealership. This authorizes your information to be shared with Transport Canada for eligibility verification.
03
We submit an eligibility assessment on your behalf. Once approved, the incentive is applied directly to your bill of sale or lease agreement — clearly labelled as the EVAP rebate.
04
You benefit from the incentive at the point of sale. We handle the reimbursement claim with Transport Canada — nothing more required from you.
Incentive Schedule
Incentives are highest in 2026 and step down gradually through 2031. The amount is locked in the date your eligibility assessment is submitted — not your delivery date.
| Vehicle Type | 2026 | 2027 | 2028 | 2029 | 2030–31 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
|
BEV / FCEV
Battery & Fuel Cell Electric
|
$5,000 | $4,000 | $3,000 | $3,000 | $2,000 |
|
PHEV
Plug-In Hybrid Electric
|
$2,500 | $2,000 | $1,500 | $1,500 | $1,000 |
*For leases, incentives are pro-rated: (full incentive ÷ 48) × lease months. Minimum 12-month term. A 24-month BEV lease in 2026 yields $2,500.
Who Qualifies
EVAP is open to a wide range of Canadians and businesses.
Here’s a quick overview of the key requirements.
$50K
The final transaction value — which includes MSRP, trim, options,
packages, accessories, and dealer fees — must be at or below
$50,000. It excludes taxes, PDI & freight,
extended warranties, winter tires, luxury tax, and registration fees.
Canadian-made EVs are exempt from this cap.

Common Questions
Everything you need to know about EVAP before your visit.
Eligible transactions initiated on or after February 16, 2026 qualify. There is no retroactivity before that date. The program runs until March 31, 2031 — or earlier if funds are fully committed.
Yes. The federal EVAP incentive can be stacked with any provincial or territorial EV incentive programs, such as Quebec’s Roulez vert or BC’s CleanBC Incentives. Ask us about what’s available in your province.
It includes MSRP, trim, optional features, packages, accessories, and dealer/admin fees. It excludes taxes, PDI & freight, extended warranties, winter tires, registration fees, luxury tax, and AC excise tax.
Yes. EVAP is a brand-new program, not a renewal of iZEV. Your prior iZEV history does not affect EVAP eligibility. Each individual can receive 1 incentive under EVAP for the lifetime of the program.
Leases of at least 12 months are eligible, with incentives pro-rated by term. Formula: (full incentive ÷ 48) × lease months. A 24-month BEV lease in 2026 yields $2,500.
The rate is set by the date the eligibility assessment is submitted — not the vehicle delivery date. Submit by Dec 30, 2026 and the 2026 rate applies even if delivery is in January 2027.
No. You must be a Canadian resident with a valid home address in Canada. Citizenship is not required.
Yes. Businesses and fleets may claim up to 10 incentives over the lifetime of the program. Registered carsharing companies may claim up to 50 incentives per calendar year.
